Christmas is a great time of year to treat employees and raise their festive spirits. For smaller businesses this is usually a simple task, but it’s often more of a challenge for larger companies!
This year DPD wanted to send a Christmas Advent calendar to their 23,000 employees, that’s a whole ‘lotta’ chocolate to produce! Not only are large quantity logistics complex to orchestrate, it’s also a challenge to ensure each calendar aligns with DPD’s brand values.
In short, the packaging should be sustainably sourced and the chocolate should ideally be made from palm oil free recipes. Then there’s the logistical feat of distributing the calendars to 143 DPD locations.
It’s our prerogative to champion the brands we work with and ensure a smooth project delivery, so our team relish the opportunity to work on large scale projects of this nature. We followed a strict checklist which started with researching and sourcing suppliers who produce palm-oil free chocolate advent calendars, and yes they still tasted amazing! The packaging, including the chocolate case, is sustainably sourced and FSC accredited which ticked a huge box. Whilst we love to get stuck into creative design, DPD like to provide the design for us; it was simple, on brand, and classy.
Our team are fully involved from the outset, visiting the supplier and taste testing the chocolate to provide an exceptional quality assurance service. This was a fun project to taste, that’s for sure!
Once the calendars are produced and delivered to Birch HQ, our fulfilment team are fully briefed on packaging requirements and locations for delivery. With 23,000 calendars to pack, label and transport, everything must run like clockwork. Two trailers were filled with over 50 pallets, with specified numbers for each of the 143 locations on the delivery list.
The calendars not only met, but exceeded expectations which is just what we love to hear! We helped DPD to run a successful, eco-friendly festive campaign for their employees.
The thoroughly taste-tested, palm oil free chocolate complemented by an attractive advent calendar design brought joy to thousands, and highlighted our commitment to providing quality, sustainably sourced print.
